Gone in a Flash

As many of you know, today I finally get to leave for spring break and I am so EXCITED!!! Let's just say next week, I will probably be planning on posting about swimwear because the beach is most likely going to be the only thing on my mind instead of preparing for finals.

Today I wanted to talk about my newest obsession and my must for spring break... Flash Tattoos.
Now, these can be purchased online at Flash Tats or they can be found in stores such as Altar'd State. They are a little pricey but they stay on longer than your average temporary tattoo. Usually, flash tats last about 4-6 days depending how well you take care of them. My favorite part about these though, is that they are so unique and can be placed anywhere on your body. I have seen girls wear them above their eyebrows, place them along their backs, and even covering their whole arm in them making it look like they are wearing a sleeve of tattoos.

A lot of these cool designs are supposed to be worn like temporary jewelry but some people are very creative with their uses. Surfers, will typically not even wear them on their skin but put them on their surfboards.

Okay with that being said, have a lovely spring break and be safe!!!

Pitcher Perfect

Sweater: American Eagle Outfitters, Watch: Nike, Hat: Jock's Nitch

Spring is in the air! Which also means that the best time of the year is just starting.... baseball season. With that being said, recently when I was home I did some DIY-ing. The first thing I made was a blinged ball cap. I picked up these diamonds from Michael's Crafts and used Aleene's metal glue to stick them down with.
The next thing I made while I was at home was this simple t-shirt dress. I the t-shirt I'm pretty sure I got for free with my admission into school and the fabric I found at Hobby Lobby. I'm thinking about making a step by step post on how to create one of these dresses, so please comment if that's something you are interested in. But anyways, it was super easy to make and took me no time! Then I finished off the look with adding a black satin ribbon around my waist and tacking it to the back center of the dress so the ribbon wouldn't slip.
I cannot wait to wear this look to the next baseball game.

Oh La La

Dress: Made by me, Hairpiece: Vintage flowers, my mother made the piece for me

Okay, I have big news today! I was asked to put some of my pieces in a local fashion show *grinning from cheek to cheek* so with that being said, I'm going to talk about my favorite dress I have ever made. The fabric I bought in Paris, at a small boutique. It is actually home décor fabric, so it is super thick and heavy but it holds the shape of the dress very well. It was such a pain to sew with however. The fabric was so fragile, that the threads kept unraveling on me, but I pushed through it (lol-ing).

I love this dress because of the back cut out. It's very simple in the front and the back of the dress just makes it. The style of the dress reminds me of Roberto Cavalli's dress style, very timeless and classic looking.

My grandma was even so kind to give me old buttons from one of her coats that she wore back in the day. They matched the dress perfectly. My mother made the hairpiece for me using vintage flowers from one of her friends antique store. It took the dress to a whole new level by adding such a delicate accessory to it.

Until next time---

Rain, Rain Go Away

Coat: Made by me, but fabric is Amy Butler

Maryville has had some really crappy weather lately. The other day it was 50 degrees and sunny then around 3 o'clock it dropped to 16 degrees and started flurrying. The number of outfit changes I have gone through this week has been insane. I feel awful for my roommate because she has to look at a huge pile of clothes on my desk and my over-flooding laundry basket. I think she is a saint right now haha!

Okay, but this is one of my favorite coats. I made it my last year of high school and I'm still just as much obsessed with it.  It's lined with a cool lime green material (pictured in top left photo) and the fabric is made by Amy Butler. It is such a groovy coat, every time I slip it on I think I'm Carrie Bradshaw in "The Carrie Diaries". In this photo I paired it with some classic brown riding boots and tan leggings that I think I picked up at Marshall's. It works great though with dark jeans and pink rain boots, which is how I styled it earlier this week.

Until next time--

Walking on the Wild Side

Top Two: BCBGMaxazria

Middle Two: Michael Kors

Bottom Two: Ralph Lauren
With New York fashion week coming to an end, I wanted to put together some of my favorite looks from the shows. Fall 2015 trends have not seemed to dissapoint with the excessive use of fur, chocolate browns, and leather. Each designer seems to have incorporated a western-tomboy look into their collections. Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors had women wearing wide legged pants and ties, and BCBGMaxazria took metal mixed leather to a new level. It seemed like most designers were trying to create a very rough but classic collection. Most pieces that I saw were less couture and costumey than usual. I cannot wait to see what other designers are going to add to this western jungle.

Until next time--

In to the Woods

Dress, Socks, and Slip: Free People, Hat: Polo Ralph Lauren, Boots: Nine West

Every once in a while, life gets difficult. We feel tied to down to our responsibilities and the stress of others gets put on to our backs. For me and most college students this happens often (well, everyday for me at least). But, between the mountain high piles of homework and daily responsibilities, we have to learn how to breathe and cut the string that attaches us from our struggles. My favorite craving recently has been large dresses that make it seem like we are weightless. This Free People dress is perfect for the moments when all you want to do is twirl like your in a music video and forget all your responsibilities. It is a lightweight fabric makes it easy to feel limitless and free. Its also great for hiding that freshman 5 you might have gained first semester, like me..... Anyways, the detailing of the dress is amazing. The pictures I use don't capture the clever V- neck neckline and the elastic around the upper arms. However, the dress is very see-through so I paired it with a white lace slip from Free People as well which gave it more of a feminine look. I highly recommend the slip to anyone because it is so versatile. On busy days I'll pair it with a large sweater to create a cozy, laid back look. It seriously goes with everything.

Until next time--
