Rain, Rain Go Away

Coat: Made by me, but fabric is Amy Butler

Maryville has had some really crappy weather lately. The other day it was 50 degrees and sunny then around 3 o'clock it dropped to 16 degrees and started flurrying. The number of outfit changes I have gone through this week has been insane. I feel awful for my roommate because she has to look at a huge pile of clothes on my desk and my over-flooding laundry basket. I think she is a saint right now haha!

Okay, but this is one of my favorite coats. I made it my last year of high school and I'm still just as much obsessed with it.  It's lined with a cool lime green material (pictured in top left photo) and the fabric is made by Amy Butler. It is such a groovy coat, every time I slip it on I think I'm Carrie Bradshaw in "The Carrie Diaries". In this photo I paired it with some classic brown riding boots and tan leggings that I think I picked up at Marshall's. It works great though with dark jeans and pink rain boots, which is how I styled it earlier this week.

Until next time--

  1. Did you learn design clothing in High School or on your own? Regardless, what prompted you to start? I think its pretty cool how some people stick to creating articles of clothing by hand when the new standard has them made in bulk by machines.

  2. I love that coat!! You did an incredible job designing and making it. I also like the way you gave a full view of it and some close ups. I bet it was nice to have something to brighten up these dreary Maryville days.

  3. OMG you made this?!?! It is really cute and amazing. I think it's awesome that you can make your own clothing but I do agree it has been crappy weather in Maryville. Hopefully it get's better this weekend!
